From the recording Kingdom Living

A new twist and melody to the old familiar hymn Trust and Obey, which is public domain.

Elizabeth Ann Smith's Testimony: It was years after I recorded my instrumental "When I Come To The Lord" that I was aware suddenly that the verses of this old hymn (with exception of my bridges) matched up perfectly to my piano music, so I went in and laid down lyrics and made this a discipleship song. The Lord doesn't do anything "without a plan" so please know he wants the words of this old song to "come alive anew" in you! Amen! (smile)

Psalm 84:11-12

Lyrics

When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds upon our way
While we do His good will
He abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obey

Not a shadow can rise
Not a cloud in the skies
But His smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt nor a fear
Not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey

Though not easy
For us to learn to trust
And we question how obedience brings joy
When Christ's spirit, Himself
Dwells within our hearts
He enables us
Both to obey and to trust

Not a burden we bear
Not a sorrow we share
But our toil He doth richly repay
Not a grief or a loss
Not a frown nor a cross
But is blessed
If we trust and obey

Though not easy
For us to learn to trust
And we question how obedience brings joy
When Christ's spirit, himself
Dwells within our hearts
He enables us
Both to obey and to trust

But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor He shows
For the joy He bestows
Is for them who will trust and obey

Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet
And we’ll walk by His side in The Way
What He says we will do
And where He sends we will go
Never fear
Only trust and obey
